Cricket's three formats and the most-followed tournaments

jeta7 cricket match betting formats

Before getting into cricket betting, it helps to know the formats, because the nature of the markets differs across each one.

T20: This 20-over format is the fastest and most unpredictable. BPL, IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup are especially popular among cricket fans in Bangladesh. Matches can turn around in the final over, which makes live betting particularly engaging.

ODI: The 50-over format tests both strategy and patience. A team's average run rate, pitch conditions and the first innings score all influence later betting decisions. Bangladesh Tigers ODI matches are always closely followed across the country.

Test: In this five-day format a draw is a valid result, so the betting market splits three ways — Team A wins, Team B wins or draw. The match winner market in Test cricket is quite different from the other two formats because pitch changes and weather play a much bigger role.

Compared to football and other sports, cricket offers a much wider variety of betting markets. Football mainly has match winner, number of goals or both teams to score markets — and the game lasts just 90 minutes. In cricket, the situation changes ball by ball, which means far more markets and much more active live betting.

At jeta7 you can also bet on football, kabaddi and volleyball alongside cricket. On this page, though, we focus mainly on cricket. If you're interested in casino games or slots, head over to jeta7 casino to explore that section.

Popular betting markets — how each one works

Cricket offers many types of markets. Beginners are better off starting with a few straightforward ones; experienced bettors can combine multiple markets in a single bet.

Match Winner

A straight bet on which team will win the match. In T20 there are two outcomes; in Test there are three (Team A wins, Team B wins, draw). For example: Team A is the favourite in the market, and you place your bet on Team B.

Toss

A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. Whatever the pitch conditions or weather, the toss result is entirely random — so the odds on this market are usually close to even.

Top Batsman

A bet on who will score the most runs for a given team. Pitch behaviour and the batting order matter here. The market is listed as 'Team A's top scorer' without naming a specific player.

Total Runs Over/Under

A bet on whether the total runs in a match or an innings will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. Example: if the line is set at 165, scoring more than that is 'over' and scoring fewer is 'under'.

Multi Bet

Combine multiple selections into one bet — all selections must be correct to win. This increases the potential return, but if even one selection is wrong you lose the entire bet. A detailed example is given in the odds section below.

Powerplay Runs

A bet on whether total runs in the first powerplay (usually the first 6 overs) will be above or below a set figure. Odds shift quickly if a wicket falls or a batsman goes on the attack.

How to read odds — three formats explained

jeta7 betting odds format explained

Odds can look confusing at first, but once you understand the three formats any market becomes clear. The examples below use Team A and Team B.

Format Example: Team A wins Meaning
Decimal 2.25 A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳2,250 in total (৳1,250 profit + ৳1,000 stake)
Fractional 5/4 ৳5 profit for every ৳4 wagered — equivalent to decimal 2.25
American +125 ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet — again equivalent to decimal 2.25

All three formats express the same outcome — only the notation differs. The same market in three formats: decimal 2.25 = fractional 5/4 = American +125. A ৳1,000 winning bet returns ৳2,250 in total.

The favourite's odds are generally lower. Say Team B is the favourite: decimal 1.50 = fractional 1/2 = American -200. American -200 means you need to bet ৳200 to make ৳100 profit. On a ৳1,000 bet, if Team B wins the total return is ৳1,500 (৳500 profit); if they lose, the entire ৳1,000 is gone.

For a multi bet, the odds of all selections are multiplied together. If three selections are decimal 1.40, 1.50 and 1.70, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.70 = 3.57 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳357 if all three are correct; if even one is wrong, the entire ৳100 is lost.

Live betting — how markets shift with wickets and overs

jeta7 live in-play cricket betting

Live or in-play betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. It works especially well in cricket because a single wicket or a string of sixes can change the odds in an instant.

Say Team A is batting and loses two wickets in the first over — Team A's winning odds will lengthen (the market moves against them as they look weaker), while Team B's odds will shorten. These shifts happen in real time, so you need to keep a close eye on things.

Watching the match live is the best way to take part in live betting effectively. Relying only on the scorecard without watching the game means you can miss important information — such as a batsman's injury or a change in pitch conditions.

You can do live betting on the jeta7 App from anywhere. The Android and iOS versions of the jeta7 App are available through official channels.

A few things to keep in mind before you start betting

  • Start with one market. Rather than betting across many markets right away, starting with match winner or total runs over/under keeps things less confusing.
  • Set a budget. Decide in advance how much you are willing to spend on entertainment each day or week. Do not go beyond that limit if you lose.
  • Choose markets that fit the format. Total runs and live markets are popular in T20, while Test cricket has its own session-based markets — try to understand which markets suit which format.
  • Be careful with multi bets. Adding many selections does increase the potential return, but if even one is wrong you lose the whole bet. It is better not to combine more than 3–4 selections at once.
  • Read the terms and conditions. Make sure you understand the wagering requirements attached to any bonus or offer. Full details are on jeta7's terms and conditions page.
  • Betting is entertainment — not income. Betting is a good way to make watching cricket more engaging, but it should not be treated as a regular source of earnings.

Frequently asked questions about cricket betting

T20 is the easiest for beginners because matches are shorter and results come quickly. The markets are also relatively straightforward — mainly two outcomes (Team A or Team B wins). ODI is a bit longer but offers more markets. In Test cricket there are three possible results including a draw, so it tends to suit more experienced bettors.

Both are T20 format, so the core markets are the same — match winner, toss, total runs, top batsman and multi bet. IPL markets tend to go a bit deeper because there are more teams and matches. BPL draws strong local interest since Bangladeshi teams are involved, and live betting is especially active during those games.

In live betting, timing is everything. Odds shift noticeably right after a wicket falls or when the powerplay ends — these are the moments when markets are most active. Because odds move fast, hesitating too long can mean missing the window. Watching the match live while you bet is the best approach.

Football markets are more limited — typically match winner (1X2), both teams to score, and total goals over/under. Cricket has far more markets because new ones open up on every ball, over and session. Beginners may want to start with football's simpler markets before moving on to cricket.

Toss betting is a completely separate and independent market. The toss outcome can influence the match (for example, which team chooses to bat or bowl), but winning or losing a toss bet has no connection to the match winner bet. The two markets are settled independently.
